FAQ Why should you hire a coach?
A: A coach is one who helps you set goals, keep you accountable, overcome obstacles, and helps you find the answers within yourself. They do not tell you what to do as you know yourself best.
Why are some coaches so expensive?
A: When hiring a coach, keep in mind that a coach will have years of life and work experience to understand the client’s situation better. The coach draws upon their own successes and failures to ask the client the right questions to help them find their answers. The client is paying based on the coach’s expertise, knowledge, and training. Keep in mind that certified coaches HAVE been trained and have tools to help augment their experience.
Why do coaches need a contract?
A: The contract helps both parties when it comes to payment and expectations. Typically, people need time to pick apart their blocks and it usually takes about 90 days to see real success. Most coaches will not bill you if you decide that, after having some paid sessions, you decide not to continue working with them.
What if I don’t have a bag full of “issues?” Just one or two things to sort out?
A: Great! That’s when laser coaching comes in to play. In 30 minutes or less a coach can develop an action plan with a client as long as the client lists a specific topic that they need coaching on.
Why are there so many kinds of coaches?
A: The iPEC training course trains their coaches to be “expert generalists” but there are other more specialized courses of study as well. Life coaches tend to work with clients who are trying to improve their personal and life situations. As a corporate and career coach, I focus on clients who are going through career transition as well as those who want to move from “functional” to “optimal.”
I work with managers and staff to help both sides understand their common goals and how to best use their respective skill sets to get the job done while improving job satisfaction and profitability.
Why should I trust a coach with personal information? What guarantees do I have with respect to ethics?
