First job: Lawn mowing, ages 10-15…in the Florida heat, not fun, you get the picture!

First job that required me to file taxes: Deli, where I learned FIFO, customer service, running a cash register, how to clean a gross grill at the end of the night, and how to make one mean sandwich. I can still remember what ingredients go into each special recipe!

Bank teller: Deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, my first experience with general ledger accounts and I still wasn’t exactly sure how all that worked! Not to mention balancing the ATM, foreign currency exchange, and be ever vigilant in keeping an eye out for the next person trying to scam the bank or get real money for counterfeit. Not on my watch!!

Credit Specialist: Translation-Corporate Collections for a few years for a major computer reseller until the company went bankrupt due to the “creative accounting” and wild spending sprees. I think Enron learned a few things from that company!

A great opportunity presented itself and I landed a role at ConAgra Foods as a manager of Cash Application for 5 years. I met some of the best people I know while employed there. But, after being laid off in June of 2005, I needed to get back to the south. At that time the south was Charlotte, for me, anyway.

I was hired as an Accounts Receivable Supervisor for a trucking division of a major shipping company based in Europe. The intent was for me to eventually take over the role of Credit Manager but let’s just say things didn’t work out. It was time to move out of collections and accounts receivable on to bigger and better things!

Thinking the grass was greener, I took an analyst role in order to add new responsibilities to my resume and bring my knowledge into an area that was full of broken processes. Not only did I learn a new industry, I saw the handwriting on the wall….eeek, an SAP implementation and we all know those end up to…layoffs!

Big break into recruiting came in 2007 and I have loved it ever since. I’m better at recruiting than at sales so, after 3 years of working for agencies, struggling through the Great Recession, here I am again, connecting people to opportunity, performing corporate, career, and confidence coaching!
